The Sad Passing of Mike Daley

CheshireShow2013-444-min

It is with sadness we must inform you that Mike Daley, Chief Steward and Council Member to Royal Cheshire County Show and Cheshire Agricultural Society for many years, recently passed away.

Until 2 years ago Mike was still active at the show despite ill health. He was a stalwart of the In Hand pony classes especially the Welsh Ponies and over the years he elevated the Show to one of the top United Kingdom Showcases, being one of the few shows to award silver medals for Welsh Ponies and the Price Family Supreme In Hand qualifiers. Mike was heard and often seen around the rings interviewing competitors with his cordless microphone, fondly known by him as his lollipop.

Mike was a recipient of the Cheshire Agricultural Society Award of Merit in 2020.

Sending condolences to his family and friends and thank you Mike for your dedication to the Society and to your beloved Welsh Ponies.
