The Royal Cheshire County Show Celebrates its 185th year with a Record-Breaking Attendance with more than 85,000 people visiting the show over the two-day event.

The Royal Cheshire County Show, one of the region’s most anticipated annual events, concluded its 185th show this week with stunning attendance figures, rain, sunshine, competitions and fun! With a rich tapestry of agricultural attractions, thrilling performances from an array of talented attractions and interactive experiences, the Show delivered an unforgettable celebration of all things rural and Cheshire. This year’s event, held on the 20th and 21st of June, drew a record-breaking crowd, solidifying its reputation as a highlight of the summer rural and social calendar.

From the crackling energy in the air to the contagious enthusiasm of visitors, competitors, traders and celebrity visitors, the 2023 Royal Cheshire County Show exceeded all expectations.

One of the most captivating aspects of the Royal Cheshire County Show was its magnificent showcase of agriculture and rural life. The renowned Livestock Exhibitions and competitions mesmerised visitors who marvelled at the impressive displays of award-winning cattle, sheep, pigs shire and light horses. From the perfectly groomed animals to the proud and passionate exhibitors, the Livestock Exhibitions served as a testament to Cheshire’s thriving agricultural heritage. Celebrity farmers Olly Harrison, Tom Pemberton and Kelvin Fletcher were also in attendance and delighted to help with the judging and prize giving. Competition results are now available.

The vibrant Main Ring came alive with breathtaking displays and performances. Extreme Bike Battle left audiences in awe, whilst the Atkinson Action Horses showcased a diverse range of equestrian disciplines; from heart-stopping stunts to breathtaking displays of precision riding and choreography. 

To celebrate its 185th year, The Royal Cheshire County Show, in association with Happy Radio, hosted a live concert on the Tuesday evening. Live! At The Show was an exhilarating and unforgettable experience for all those in attendance as the sun set stunningly behind the stage. Live! At The Show was presented by Happy Radio’s Darren Proctor as well as local Cheshire DJ’s, including Pete Price, real Housewife of Cheshire’s Lauren Simon and others. Local Nantwich band Unit 17 opened the concert, followed by Ben Sproston. Nathan Moore of Brother Beyond then delivered an electrifying and captivating performance including walking and singing with and amongst the crowd, followed by Denise Pearson of Five Star, Katrina (formerly of Katrina and The Waves) and headliners Odyssey.

The Food and Drink Village tantalised taste buds with mouthwatering local produce. Visitors enjoyed the opportunity to savour artisanal cheeses, freshly baked bread, and delectable desserts, all sourced from the bountiful Cheshire countryside. The culinary experience was further enhanced by live demonstrations from renowned chefs, including Season Three of ITV’s Cooking with the Star’s, Jean Christophe Novelli and Ellis Barrie, who shared their expertise and passion for Cheshire’s gastronomic delights in the Roberts Bakery Food Live Theatre.

The Royal Cheshire County Show also emphasised the importance of education and sustainability. The Countryside Experience provided a unique opportunity for children and adults alike to learn about the rural environment and engage in interactive activities.

As the event came to a close, the atmosphere was filled with anticipation for next year’s show, promising even more incredible experiences and cherished moments.
