The Cheshire Agricultural Society were delighted that Cheshire Scouts have been awarded Charity of the Year 2023 by The Cheshire and Warrington Pledge for Chamboree, their international Scout and Guide Jamboree, which took place last Summer at The Royal Cheshire County Show Showground.
First held in 1990, Chamboree is a four yearly Scout and Guide Camp which has grown to become one of the biggest and best in the UK. It has been held at The Royal Cheshire County Showground since 2006.
Charly O’Brien, Programme Team Leader, accepted the award on behalf of Cheshire Scouts from Youth Federation Patron David Briggs MBE.

Dave Hopley, County Lead Volunteer for Cheshire Scouts said “Chamboree has been an amazing experience, that shows what a powerful force for good Scouts and Guiding can be for young people. The event is totally organised by volunteers and we engaged with The Pledge to support the delivery of STEM activities. We would like to say a big thank to the Cheshire Agricultural Society for use of the site and help in staging the last five Chamborees”
Rob Davenport, Show Director for Cheshire Agricultural Society said “On behalf of all here at the Cheshire Agricultural Society we offer our congratulations to Cheshire Scouts on the great news that they’ve been awarded Charity of the Year 2023 for a successful Chamboree, this is richly deserved”
