CFWI celebrates centenary with Showground tree planting
2 December 2019
Cheshire Federations of Women’s Institutes celebrate their centenary in 2020. Every WI, approximately 200 in number, has been challenged by the Federation Chairman to plant a tree to mark this special year.
In accordance with this challenge the Agricultural Society invited the Federation to plant three trees on the Showground close to Gate 4. The CFWI were delighted to accept this kind gesture and purchased oak, beech and lime trees which the Agricultural Society arranged to have planted.
Both the Agricultural Society and CFWI were represented at the planting on Friday, 15th November. A plaque recording the occasion will be placed by the trees. The Agricultural Society were thanked for allowing CFWI to have a place on the Showground to commemorate their Centenary year.
