An Impressive Turnout For This Year’s Royal Cheshire County Show!

This year’s Royal Cheshire County Show, a two-day celebration of agricultural life held in the heart of the Cheshire countryside in Tabley, near Knutsford, drew crowds of over 80,000 people from across the North West.

Now in its 184th year, the Show got off to a wonderful start helped by the beautiful weather, hosting a huge variety of competitions, from light horses, cattle, dogs, sheep, pigs and more, with over 3000 animals to see over the two-day event.

Four celebrity chefs including Simon Rimmer and Jean-Christoph Novelli hosted a fantastic variety of cooking demonstrations in the Roberts Bakery Food Live Theatre, with Sean Wilson and Brian Mellor also displaying their cooking skills for visitors across the two days of the Show.

In tribute to Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee the Show celebrated 70 years of agriculture in the main ring with its vintage machinery display and a showcase of Cheshire’s rich farming heritage.

The Bidlea Dairy Agri-Centre was busier than ever, introducing visitors to a wide variety of livestock and getting everyone hands-on, learning how farmers produce our food and what an important role famers play in the life and health of the nation.

New attractions to this year’s show included the Pony Club Musical Ride, which saw young riders take to their horses to put on a fabulous, choreographed display for thousands of spectators. Visitors also enjoyed popular returning attractions including Paul Hannam’s Quad Bike Stunt Show, The Shetland Pony Grand National and the Edsential Music Bowl Stand.

With the incredible weather, huge crowds and all the animals and attractions, the Show was a wonderful success bringing together people of all ages to enjoy a Right Royal Day Out in Cheshire!

Rob Davenport, show director said: “I would like to thank everyone that pulled together to make the 2022 show a great success. Exhibitors, our Sponsors, Volunteers, and of course our visitors, all helping to showcase what is great about agriculture in this country. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Show to be held on June 20th and 21st 2023 and annual memberships enabling access to the show are already available to purchase on our website’.
