The Countdown is on for The Royal Cheshire County Show!

With the Royal Cheshire County Show just days away we take a look at what the fun packed event holds for visitors this year!

Every year the show brings exceptional show animals, exclusive performances, favourite attractions, bustling trade stands and a real feeling of agricultural pride and this year is no exception. Meet hundreds of animals close up – rare livestock breeds, pygmy goats, gun dogs, world horse breeds, cavies, and a whole menagerie more! Plus –

The Agri-Centre – showcasing how our Cheshire farmers produce food and a chance to meet a sow and her piglets!

The Tabley Eye – an incredible 35m high ferris wheel offering breath-taking views across the showground and the Cheshire countryside.

There really is something for everyone – from children learning where their food comes from, to sports fans on the edge of their seats watching the show jumping. Attracting over 80,000 visitors each year, the show encapsulates everything we know and love about summertime in Cheshire.

This year sees the introduction of a brand new main ring attraction – The Four Seasons of Farming. During this unique display spectators will be taken on a journey through the farming calendar – introducing them to the giants of modern farming technology, from ploughs to combines. Reflecting the different agricultural processes deployed throughout the year including ploughing, drilling, spraying and harvesting, the display will capture the imaginations of both young and old with demonstrations of the fascinating processes involved in modern farming.

Cheshire’s rich farming history will be the Show’s focus with hundreds of exhibits including livestock, poultry, light and heavy horses, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigeons, dogs, goats and a number of rare breeds.

“Show stock production is an important element in the continuing improvement of the quality of our Dairy herds. Show animals are the elite – a benchmark to which breeders aspire and strive to emulate.” said Royal Cheshire County Show chairman Tony Garnett DL FRAgS.

“We are particularly proud of this year’s offerings and the entire Cheshire community is delighted to be sharing this glimpse into what makes our county so vibrant.”

The spectacle of the Agri-Centre is a must-see for all visitors who want to learn more about where their food comes from and how it’s delivered from the region’s producers to their plates, through fun, lively, interactive displays.

The Agri-Centre will feature sheep shearing, milk sampling, ice cream tasting and live butchering demonstrations, including expert tips on how butchers select the very best cuts of meat. “People are genuinely interested to know where their food comes from – our ‘Plough to Plate’ experience truly does give an insightful and interesting overview,” Said Antony Millington who will be overseeing the centre.

Visitors looking for a fix of retail therapy will not be disappointed – hundreds of trade stands offer plenty of choice and exclusive offers. From the farmers market selling fresh local produce, to the County Living Marquee and Shoppers Mews featuring carefully selected top quality gifts, crafts and products there is sure to be something for even the most discerning shopper.

Foodies shouldn’t miss a visit to see more than 100 local and regional producers located inside the two Roberts Bakery Food Halls, where the celebrity chefs will also be demonstrating their cooking skills on both show days, using the finest, locally sourced produce. Michelin starred chef, Jean-Christophe Novelli will create mouth-watering dishes and explode the myths surrounding French cookery and local Great British Bake Off hero Luis Troyano will be showcasing his bread making skills and home styled recipes. Visitors will also be treated to exclusive show day offers from traders and sample the mouth-watering morsels on offer.
